Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear or accurate summary of the data. While it mentions the categories, the description of the figures is often confusing or mathematically incorrect (e.g., '22 proposition', '51 proposition'). The overview is weak and does not effectively highlight the main trends or significant comparisons. The report lacks a logical selection of data, and the interpretation of the bar graph is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the overall trends in library loans. To improve, focus on accurately reporting the data points and identifying the most significant features rather than listing numbers in a fragmented way.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal structure of the paragraphs is disjointed. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive and awkward use of 'majorly' and 'further'. The transition between the pie charts and the bar graph is abrupt, and the conclusion does not effectively summarize the information presented. The lack of clear signposting makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There is a heavy reliance on repetitive phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'proposition' instead of 'percentage' or 'proportion', and 'quickly growth' instead of 'rapid growth'. The term 'majorly' is used inappropriately to describe data distribution. Spelling errors, such as 'cateagorised', also detract from the quality of the response. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing trends and data, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure you use these words in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The pie charts demonstrates'), sentence structure, and word order. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions. The attempt to use complex structures is largely unsuccessful, resulting in confusing syntax. For example, the sentence 'but also not only 2010... are quickly rise' is grammatically incoherent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and using correct tense forms to describe past data. Consistent practice with basic grammar rules is essential before attempting more complex structures.
