Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear overview or a logical summary of the main features. While you mention some percentages and trends, the information is presented in a fragmented way. You have not effectively compared the data between the two charts. For example, the description of the 2007-2016 trend is repetitive and lacks precision, using phrases like 'loan gain by people' repeatedly rather than describing the actual data points. To improve, ensure you identify the most significant trends and group data logically rather than listing figures in isolation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction that paraphrases the prompt effectively, and the body paragraphs are not clearly demarcated. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'if we go towards' or 'if we see towards', which do not function as appropriate linking phrases. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different age groups and the yearly trends. Better use of paragraphing and transition words like 'In contrast' or 'Furthermore' would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the phrase 'loan gain by people' or 'gaining loan', which is not natural English colocation for describing library statistics. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'take parts in' instead of 'participate in' or 'use the library'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately (e.g., using 'gradually decrease' or 'increases' without specifying the extent or context). You should aim to use more precise terminology such as 'borrowed', 'circulation', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'these are the people who take loan and there are dividing into' and 'children fiction gains 38% loan which are higher value'. The sentence structure is often simplistic or awkward, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization (e.g., 'little Chalfont'). To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and varying your sentence structures to include more complex clauses.
