Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of both charts, identifying key trends such as the dominant age group and the most popular loan categories. However, there are inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that children's fiction and adult fiction contributed 38 percent of the loan, whereas the chart indicates these are separate categories. Additionally, you mention 'children's proportion observed the least ratio' while the pie chart clearly shows children at 18% and the 65+ group at 15%. The overview is present but lacks a clear synthesis of the data. To improve, ensure that data points are transcribed accurately and that comparisons are more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the pie chart and bar graph respectively. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'Beginning with,' and 'In contrast' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'Moving to the next half part of the charts.' The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'notable trend,' 'proportion,' and 'categories.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'total number of loans taken by the library' (loans are usually 'borrowed' or 'issued') and 'half part of the charts.' There is also some repetition of words like 'highest' and 'ratio.' To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and avoid repetitive phrasing by using synonyms or varying your sentence structure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in pie graph,' 'the least are adults') and prepositions ('as compare to' instead of 'compared to'). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent in places. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic article usage and ensuring correct comparative structures will help improve your accuracy.
