The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given pie chart illustrates different age groups of the Little Chalfont library users. They are divided into four categories: children, young adults between 13-17 years, adults between 18-64 years, and adults over 65 years of age. Whereas, the given tabular chart and bar graph represents the total proportion of loans in 2016 by categories of books and total number of loans over 9 years of time period, ranging from 2007 to 2016.

While adults between 18-64 years are among the highest portion of library users, age group over 64 years remain the lowest portion of library visitors in 2016, despite children covering about 22% of total portion. Overall, in 2006, children's fiction and adult fiction collaboratively covers 76% of total loans, with each category weighing equally. Children's DVDs, young adults' books, audio books, and children's non-fictional books cover negligible portions of 1%, 2%, 2% and 6% respectively.

In 2007, the total number of loans began at just above 15,000 which crossed the 20,000 mark within 3 years. While, there was a gradual decline in loans during 2013, numbers increased substantially over the following years from 2013 to 2016.

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'age group over 64 years remain' (subject-verb agreement) and 'over 9 years of time period' (redundant phrasing).
