Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all three charts provided. You successfully identify the main trends in the loan data and the key proportions in the membership and category charts. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, you mention that adult fiction and children's fiction account for 38% of loans, but you do not explicitly state that this is a combined figure or compare it effectively against the other categories. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide more precise comparisons between the data points rather than just listing them. The overview is present but could be more integrated with the specific data points to provide a clearer summary of the overall picture.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'However', and 'Lastly'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. There are also issues with referencing; for instance, in the third paragraph, the phrase 'which moveover to 20000' is unclear and disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother to ensure a more cohesive progression of ideas throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significantly', 'percentage', and 'membership'. However, there are several spelling errors ('significalty', 'memebership', 'whihc', 'aorun', 'childrens') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'the least one was around 12%'. These errors do not prevent communication, but they do indicate a lack of control over more precise vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and ensuring that your word choices are accurate and correctly spelled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The charts displays', 'adults have a highest percentage'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('which moveover to 20000'). While these errors do not impede the overall meaning, they are frequent enough to limit the score. To improve, pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentence structures are grammatically sound before moving on to more complex forms.
