Student answer (Band 5.5)

These pictures represents the information about and old library in an small town called little chal font,

at the first, there is a pie chart which shows the library member ages from 2016 which are using this library.

most of the library memebers are adults, specially from the age of 18 to 64 they are almost over the 50% of the members, and there are 22% of children, along with 12% of young adults over the age of 10, and 15% of older members over the age of 65.

then there is table which demonstrate the amounts of loans for the different things of library like the books DVDS, adult and children friction books as well as non friction books.

a great amount of loan is for the adult friction and the children friction books.and the least amount is for the children DVDS,

and after all these there is grapgh which shows the loand over the past few years, in this graph the loan is increased gradually, it was more than 15k in 2007 and now its more than 20k.

in conclusion, library memebers have been grown gradually and along with there the loan has also been increased over these years

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all three charts provided, identifying key features such as the age distribution, loan categories, and the upward trend in library usage. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the age groups, the comparison between categories is limited. The description of the loan table lacks precision, as you refer to 'different things' rather than using specific terminology like 'categories of materials'. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide a clear overview that synthesises the main trends rather than just listing data points. Additionally, ensure all data is accurately reported; for example, the age group 18-64 is 51%, not 'over 50%'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into a logical sequence, moving from the pie chart to the table and finally the graph. However, the paragraphing is poor; the entire response is essentially one long block of text, which hinders readability. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or basic, such as 'at the first', 'then', and 'after all these'. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure each distinct chart or key trend is separated into its own paragraph to guide the reader through your analysis more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'memebers', 'friction' (instead of 'fiction'), 'grapgh', and 'loand'. Furthermore, the word choice is often imprecise; for example, 'different things of library' is vague. You should aim to use more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'demographic breakdown', 'loan statistics', or 'upward trajectory'. The current range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the frequent spelling and word-choice errors limit the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Issues include incorrect article usage ('an old library', 'a table'), subject-verb agreement errors ('pictures represents', 'library members have been grown'), and awkward phrasing ('along with there the loan has also been increased'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
