Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all three charts provided in the prompt, attempting to summarize information from the pie chart, table, and bar chart regarding the public library in Little Chalfont. You have successfully identified some main features, such as adults representing the largest age group and children's fiction being the most popular loan category. However, the data interpretation is somewhat inaccurate and confusing; for example, your description of the age groups ('adults (51) and children, young adults and adults where 22, 15, 12 respectively') misreads the data presented in the charts, and the percentages given for book loans do not clearly match the source material. While you make a basic attempt to select and report main features and make comparisons, the lack of precision and under-developed explanations limit your score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The text is structured into a clear introduction and multiple body paragraphs, attempting an overall progression from age distribution to loan categories. However, the logical arrangement breaks down due to confusing phrasing and unclear referencing. Cohesive devices are used minimally and sometimes inappropriately, such as using 'whereas' and 'as well as' awkwardly in the opening sentence, and repeating 'to begin with' without a clear subsequent structure. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs feels disjointed, and the relationships between the three different charts are not smoothly integrated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for a basic summary, incorporating terms like 'illustrates', 'category', and 'individuals'. However, the range is quite limited, and there are several noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'overall loan of seven categories' instead of 'loan figures across seven categories', and 'adults where the highest age members' instead of 'adults formed the largest membership group'. Spelling and basic lexical control are generally maintained, but the repetition of basic verbs ('presents', 'where') and inaccurate phrasing restrict the lexical score to a 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and coordinating conjunctions, such as 'The pie chart illustrates... whereas table presents...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, notably subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'adults where the highest', 'charts presents'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles (e.g., 'table presents', 'visit library'). Punctuation is also problematic, including missing spaces after periods (e.g., '2016.All three'). While these errors do not completely obscure the general topic, their frequency causes difficulty for the reader and prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
