IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the age ranges of Chalfont library members while the table shows the rates of book categories loaned by members in 2016 and the bar chart depicts how many loans were taken from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, adults between 18 and 64 was the most common age group where adults over 65 was the least common. Children's fiction and adult fiction were the most borrowed book types while children's DVDs accounted for the least. The amount of total loans risen over the period.
Majority of library members were adults between 18-64 and the rate was 51%while the least accounted for those who were 65 or over in age and the proportion was 12%. 22% of the library members were children and 12% accounted for young adults.
Children's fiction amdd adult fiction were the two most common categories and those accounted for 38% of total loans each. Children's DVDs was the least choosen book category and the rate was only 1%. Adult audio books and young adults books were the two categories who shared similar share and it was 2%.
The total quantity of loans followed and upward trend and started from more than 15000 loans in 2007 and then the number started to rise and reached more than 20000 loans in 2012 and then again it fell to around 19000 and then gradually rose to approximately 22000 loans.
