IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates the percentage of age library members and table shows the total loans by category in little chalfront liberary in 2016, while the bar chart compares the number of loans taken between 2007 till 2016.

Overall, adults age 18-64 accounts for the highest while adults over 65 had the lowest proportion of library member,however largest percentage of loans spend on children's fiction and adult fictions were equally the most borrowed categories.Additionally total number of loans rose considerably desipite some fluctions.

In 2016, young adults age 18-64 represented 51% of all member, more than twice the number of childrens, at 22%. Young adults accounted for further 15%, while those aged 65 and more made up the remaining 12%. Turning to borrowing patterns children's and adult fiction each comprised of 38% of total loans. Adult's non fiction was the next most popular category, at 13%, followed by children's non-fiction at 6%. Young adult's book ad audio books each accounted for 2%, whereas children's DVD's are the least borrowed item, at just 1%.

The total number of loans rose from approximately 15,500 in 2007 to around 19,000 in 2008 and 2009. It then climbed to just over 20,000 in 2010 and peaked at 21,000 in 2011. After a slight decline in 2012, a more noticeable decline to roughly 19,500 in 2013, borrowing recovered steadily, reaching approximately 21,500 loans by 2016.
