The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The charts illustrate the information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont. The piechat provides the distribution of members, while the table shows the data of loan by different categories. Also, the graph demonstrates the pattern of the total number of loans over 10-year period.
Overall, it is evident that majority of the library users were adults, while children's fiction and adult's fiction represented the highest proportion of loan in the table. Furthermore, there is slight increase in the total number of loans over 10-year period.
Looking first at the library members, more than half of the users were adults that underlie between 18-64 age groups. Children accounted for 22%, while indivuals with the age of 65 and over represented 15% of the total members. However, Young adults having age bracket of 13-17 represented the smallest share.
Turning to the total loans that were taken as per the categories, children's fiction and adult's fiction accounted for 38% making it the highest figure. It was then followed by adult non-fiction which stood at 13%. Additionally, children's non-fiction accounted for 6%, and young adults and adult audio books stood at 2%, making it the smallest categories. Finally, children's DVDs represented only 1% of the total loans.
Regarding the total number of loans, the figure stood at over 15,000 in 2007 before increasing slightly. However, it experienced a dip in 2013, and then continued to grow and reached approximately 22,000 in 2016.
