The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The pie chart and tables show statistics about different age groups, book categories and the total number of loans from chalfont library between 2007 and 2016.
Overall, an increase has been recorded in the total number of loans in these 10 years. Adults of age 18 to 64, was the largest group of people having active library membership in 2016. Book categories like Adult and children's fiction accounted for the largest proportion of total loans.
The total number of loans kept on increasing from over 15000 in 2007 to just over 20000 in 2011. Then these loans fell slightly to just under 20000 in 2013. From 2013 onwards, the total number of books borrowed saw a steady growth to well over 20000 in 2016. Regarding active library members in 2016, Adults were recorded as the largest proportion of active members at 51%, followed by children at 22%. Finally, young adults of age 13 to 17, accounted for 15% while adults of age 65 and above were 12% of total members. Now in terms of total loans by category in 2016, children's fiction and adult fiction had the largest number of readers at 38%, followed by adult non-fiction and children's non-fiction at 13% and 6%, respectively. In the end, adult audio books, young adults and children's DVDs were the book categories with the least number of readers at 2%, 2% and 1%, respectively.
