The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The charts illustrates a public library in a town known as Little Chalfont.
Overall, adults aged 18-64 represented the highest figure of library members, whereas adult fiction and children's fiction recorded the largest proportion of total loans. Total number of loans experienced an upward trend throughout the period.
The majority of library members are adults aged 18-64, representing 51 points of the pie chart, compared with children's share, at only 22, while young adults aged 13-17 and adults aged 65 or above constituted 15 and 12, respectively.
Children's fiction and adult fiction recorded the highest proportions in total loans, at 38% for both, wheras children's DVDs made up the smallest figure at 1% only, children's DVDs figure is exactly twice the figure for young adults, at 2%.
Total number of loans showed an upward trent over the period, while it experienced moderate fluctuations. In 2007, the number of participants stood at approximately 16000, which rose considerably to 19000 in 2008 and remained stable until 2009. Following this, the figure experienced a slight increase to around 21000 loans in 2010 and remained unchanged until 2011. Then the number decreased in the following years, reaching 19000 in 2013, and made a recovery in the next three years, rising to 22000 loans in 2016.
