The charts provide data about a public library in a town known as Little Chalfont.
Overall, adults aged 18-64 recorded the highest number of library members, while children's fiction and adult fiction accounted for the highest proportions in total loans. Total number of loans experienced an upward trend throughout the period.
The majority of library members are the adults aged 18-64, at 51 members, whereas children recorded 22 members only. The young adults aged 13-17 and adults 65 or more than 65 years old made up 15 and 12 members, respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by summarizing the main features of the three charts provided. You include an effective overview that captures the highest categories across the datasets, such as adults aged 18-64 being the largest membership group and fiction dominating loan types. Key data points are correctly selected and reported, including specific membership figures (e.g., 51 for adults 18-64) and loan proportions (e.g., 38% for both children's and adult fiction). Comparisons are made where relevant, and the overall trends in total loans over the decade are accurately highlighted. All figures correspond well with the provided data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized and easy to follow. Each paragraph has a clear focus: the introduction, the overall trend, membership demographics, loan categories, and loan trends over time. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'respectively', 'compared with', and 'following this' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is logical, and progression throughout the response is clear and natural, satisfying the requirements for a well-structured task 1 response.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary suitable for an academic task 1 response, using terms such as 'proportions', 'demographics', 'fluctuations', and 'upward trend'. There are minor infelicities, such as stating 'children's DVDs figure is exactly twice the figure for young adults', which contains a slight grammatical slip ('figure' used instead of a possessive or clause connector). However, the vocabulary used is precise enough to convey the data accurately, and spelling is correct throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The response features a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You successfully employ subordinate clauses and comparative structures, such as 'In 2016, children's fiction and adult fiction represented the highest proportions... compared with the proportion for children's DVDs'. The majority of sentences are grammatically accurate, though there are minor mechanical slips, such as 'reamined' instead of 'remained' and a minor run-on/comma splice structure in the final paragraph ('while it experienced moderate fluctuations. In 2007...'). Overall, control of grammar and punctuation is strong.
