IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart displays the age group of library members and the table show the data of loan taken by different categories in a government library during 2016 in Little Chalfont, while the bar chart illustrates the total number of loans taken from 2007 to 2016.

Overall, it is clear that more than half of the library member were adults. The Chidren's and adult fictions categories took most of the loans. Similarly, the total number of loan taken in a dacade increased contineously.

In term of age of library members, the adults made 51% of total members followed by childrens whic made 22%. The young adults made 15% while the Adults 65 and over were only 12%. In term of Cetegoires by loan. The children's fiction and adults fiction were at same percetage of 38% making nearly 3/4 of total. The adults non-fiction contributed to 13% making its postion on third while th other categories made only 11% of the total.

In 2007, the number of loans were a little higher than 15000 which continued to grow for 6 years and reached to around 21000. Then in 2013 it fell to under 20000 and in next year again it started to grow. Finally closing on around 22000 in last yeaer 2016.
