IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The pie chart illustrates the proportion of Little Chalfont Library members age in year 2016. While, the table shows the pecentage of libarary loans in 7 different categories. And the bar charts compares the tatal advance taken in 9 different years from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, Adults accounted for the highest proportion of library users and young adults contributed lowest. In additon, Adult fiction category accounted for highest total laons in 2016, where adults audio books resposible for smallest proportion. In 2016, maximum number of loans has been taken, whereas 2007 was minimum loan taking year.
The number of laons taken between those years showed a moderate changes which was minimum in 2007 and reached maximum in 2016. Adults between age 18-64 was the largest members of library users with nearly half of total users. Followed by children who contributed 22% share. Moreover, young adults of age 13-17 and Adults over 65 resulted in 12% and 15% share. Children's fiction and adult fiction contributed same proportion in loans with 38%. Followed by adult non-fiction and Children's non fiction which only responsible for 13% and 6% respectively. In addition, Adult audio books and young adults shared same percentage with only 2% and the children's DVDs contirbuted on 1%.
In 2007, minimum number of laons was taken, which gradually increased over the years and reached nearly 22,000 in 2011 before declining. In 2013, the loans again recovered and reached below 20,000, which then gradually rose and climbed at the peak with 23,000 in 2016.
