Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the multiple charts provided for Little Chalfont Library, including references to the categories, member demographics, and loan trends over time. However, the selection of information is rather chaotic and fails to present a fully clear overview. For instance, the student states that the highest loan categories are Children's fiction and Adult fiction at 'one-fourth', which misinterprets the data percentages (both are actually 38%). Furthermore, while the general trends over time are touched upon, the details are imprecise and lack a well-developed comparison. This level of partial task fulfillment and data misinterpretation aligns with a Band 5.0 descriptor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into paragraphs, which provides a basic structural framework, but overall progression is lacking. The introduction is disjointed ('The graph illustrate...'), and cohesive devices are used clumsily or inaccurately, such as 'To initiate with', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas is erratic, combining categories, member age groups, and timeline trends without a logical flow. Reference words are sometimes unclear, and the mechanical transitions detract from readability. This performance corresponds to a Band 5.0 for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable limitations and word choice errors. Examples include 'dipicits' instead of depicts, 'highest giving loan category', and 'used very less' instead of used least frequently. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are unsuccessful or flawed in collocation and form. While the language is mostly understandable despite the errors, the range is strictly limited and inadequate for conveying precise data. These features fit the Band 5.0 descriptor for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly constructed complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The graph illustrate', 'ther are more adults'), pluralization errors ('a constant loans'), and incorrect prepositions. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak grasp of grammatical accuracy. This level of control is characteristic of a Band 5.0.
