IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The charts given below elucinates the information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont with pie chart providing information about the loans taken by different categories in 2016 and bar chart depicting information about the total loans taken in the time period of [redacted phone].

Overall the prima facie glance makes it quite evident that children`s fiction and adult fiction books contribute the majority of loans taken in 2016 and the least number of loans were taken and in 2007 and the most in 2016.

Scrutinising deeper into obtainable information, the percentage of adult non-fiction books loaned in 2016 were more than a double the children`s non-fiction books loaned in same year. Children`s DVDs were the least loaned in 2016. Young adults and adult audio books were identically loaned in 2016. The most number of library users in 2016 were either children or adults in the age group of 18-64.

Digging deeper into the chart, the total number of loans taken between 2007 and 2016 rose by approximately 7000. The number of loans taken in both 2008 and 2009 were identical. The total number of loans taken has shown a constant increase in numbers in all years bar 2013 where it has shown a slight decrease.
