IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates the proportion of library members by age. While, the table shows the data on loan in different categories and the bar chart compares the loans between 2007 and 2016 in Little Chalfont town.

Overall, library members between 18-64 are the highest whereas adults over 64 are the lowest. Adult and children fiction has taken the most loans and childrens DVDs has taken the least loans while the loans peaked in 2016 after flactuating slightly throughout the period.

According to the pie chart, 51% of library members are between 18-64 whereas only 12% of members are over the age of 65. the proportion of children who have used library are 22% while 15% of them are between 13-17 years old. As for the table, Children's and adult fiction have borrowed 38% of the loans. Childrens DVDs has 1% credits while young adults and adult audio books has the same proportion of credits with 2%.

Borrowing started with around 15000 in 2007 which increased to around 18000 in 2008 and remained stable till 2009 before increasing slightly. It was approximately 21000 in 2011. Later on it declined marginally to around 19000 in 2013. The loans had minimal increase and peaked in 2016 with 22000.
