IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The pie chart illustrates the age of library memebers situated in a town called little chalfont in 2016. The table provides information the total library loans by category in 2016 as well. However, the bar chart shows the total number of leans between 2007 and 2016.

Overall, it is clear that the majority of the library members were adults between 18 and 64. In contrast, adults over 65 were the lowest proportion. The table indicate that adult and children's fiction the highest loan category in 2016. Nevertheless, the total number of loans increased throughout the period between 2007 and 2016.

The pie chart shows that adults between the age of 18 and 64 were the highest by far by roughly half of the proportions of members in 2016, however, children, young adults and adults over 65 were only 22%, 15% and 12%, respectively. Furthermore, the table indicate that adult and children's fiction were relatively the largest loan of the library by 38% each. Whereas, adult non-fiction, children's non-fiction, children's DVDs, Young adults and adult audio books were relatively small and can be grouped in 2% to 13%.

In addition, the period between 2007 and 2016, the bar chart prove that the library surge in total number of loans. It initialy stood at roughly 15,000 in 2007 before it increased to about 20,000 in 2010. The figure then experienced some fluctuation before peaking at approximately 24,000.
