The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The charts provide information about Little Chalfont liabrary including the age distribution of its members in 2016, the proportion of loans by category in the same year, and the total number of loans between 2007 and 2016.

Overall, abults aged 18-64 represented the largest proportion of library members, while young adults made up the smallest group. In terms of borrowing, children;s fiction and adult fiction were the most popular categories, accounting for an equal share of total loans. The total number of loans generally increased over the period, despite some fluctuations.

In 2016 51% library members were adults aged 18-64, making this by far the largest group. Children accounted for 22%, followed by young adults aged 13-17 at 15%. The remaining 12% were adults aged 38% of total borrowing. Adult non-fiction represented a further 13%, while children;s non-fiction made up 6%. Young adults audiobooks each accounted for 2%, and children's DVDs were the least borrowed category, at just 1%.

The total number of loans stod at approximately 15,500 in 2007 and rose sharply to around 19,000 in 2008. It then remained almost unchanged in 2009 before uncreasing to approximately 20,500 in 2010 and reaching a peak of about 21,000 in 2011. The figured declined slightly in 2012 and fell further to around 19,500 in 2013. However, borrowing subsequently recovered, reaching approximately 20,700 in 214, 21,200 in 2015, and high of about 21,600 in 2016.
