IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given pie chart illustrates the data about the age of library members and additionally the given table and a bar graph show the categories and numbers about the loan given by the Little Chalfont library.

The members of library are from all type of age groups, as depicted in the pie chart, the major chunk of the members are adults between the age of 18 and 64. Senior citizens take the least space in the chart, only 12 percent. In additon, children are at 22 percent and and young adults from the age of 13 to 17 are only 22 percent of the chart.

The fiction categories are the major contributor to the total loans. Children's fiction is the most loaned category along with the adult fiction, each makes 38 percent of loan.On the other hand rest of the 5 categories make only 24 percent of the loans.

The bar graph illustrates the raw numbers of total loans from 2007 to 2016. The numbers fluctuated each year, but overall increased from just over the the 15000 mark to more than 20,000 in 2016.
