IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The pie chart illustrates the age of library members and the data in table represents total loans by category in 2016, while bar chart indicates total number of loans from 2007 to 2016.

Overall adults accounted for highest protion of total and other three categories were below while 38% accounted for total loans by adult and children's fiction while children's DVD's stood at lowest. Moreover numbers of loans slightly fluctuated over all years except in 2007.

Adults stood at 51% of total while children comprised 22%. However Young adults along with adults 65 and over accounted for 15% and 12%, respectively.

However in 2016 total loans by category was taken mostly by adult and children's fiction which is 38% and 13% by adult non fiction which then reduced by children non fiction to 6%. While young adults and adult audio books comprised 2% . In contrast children's DVDs stood at 1% which is lowest than others.

Furthermore in 2007 total number of loans was almost [redacted phone] which increased slightly to [redacted phone] by 2008 and 2009. A minor increased in this figure to almost [redacted phone] by 2010 and 2011, which then fluctuated over the remaining period.

Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
