Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover parts of the visual data, including age groups and loan categories, but contains several inaccuracies, confusions, and contradictory data points. For instance, the student states '51% of members were aged between 18 and 64' and later awkwardly repeats percentages or confuses members with loans ('22% members were lies in children. Furthermore 12% of members were children'). The overview is repetitive, restating the prompt introduction in the concluding sentences without synthesizing the main trends. The data regarding loans in 2007 ('16,000 member who had taken loans') and 2016 ('around 22,000 member') is partially accurate compared to the visual text, but overall the selection and reporting of main features are disjointed and lack a clear, cohesive structure. This performance aligns best with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and progression. While there is a weak attempt to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion into paragraphs, the internal progression of ideas within the body paragraph is erratic. Sentences jump abruptly between age group percentages, 2007 loan figures, book categories, and 2016 loan figures without logical transitions. Cohesive devices are rudimentary or mismanaged (e.g., 'To dive into specific', 'Furthermore 12% of members were children. Lastly, 15% of members were youth adults... However... In addition... Nevertheless'). Paragraphing is also poorly executed, as the final 'conclusion' merely repeats the introduction verbatim rather than summarising the main trends. This warrants a Band 5 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent word choice and collocation errors that impede smooth reading. Examples include 'Little chalfont town' (capitalisation and phrasing), 'members were lies in children', and 'youth adults'. While the student attempts some less common terms like 'classified into different age groups', the execution is flawed. There are also noticeable grammatical-lexical collisions such as '22,000 member had taken the loan'. The range is minimally adequate for addressing the task, but lexical control is weak, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('22,000 member had taken', '16,000 member who had taken'), incorrect prepositions or passive voice errors ('members were lies in children'), and missing articles. Punctuation and capitalisation also show minor flaws (e.g., 'Little chalfont'). Although communication is not completely obscured, the high frequency of errors across sentences places this response firmly in the Band 5 category.
