IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The charts illustrate the information about the public library located in Little Chalfont. The Pie chart evaluates average age of library members, whereas the graph below shows total number of loans given to the members from 2007 to 2016. Overall it gives the information about members and the interest of members in different categories.
Firstly, it can be seen that most of the members of library are
adults between the age of 18-64. Other than this the second highest number is of children with young adults and adults over 65 being the lowest ones.
Moreover, the loan granted in 2016 has been categorised in different sections with children's fiction and adult fiction having the 38% each of the total loan making it the most popular category. Other categories such as children's non-fiction, adult non-fiction and DVDs cover the remaining percentage of the loans.
Lastly in the final graph the loans from the different years can be compared and a difference between the amountsis visible as 2007 had the least amount of loans with only being $16000, whereas in 2011 and 2016 it went to more than $20000.
