The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The pie chart illustrates the different age of library members in 2016, while the table and the bar chart gives information about loans by various categories and total number of loans from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, adults accounted for by far the largest proportion, while those aged 65 and over represented smallest group. Children's fiction and adult fiction were the most popular categories,whereas children's DVD's were the least popular. However, total number of loans generally increased over the period of time, despite some fluctuations.
Looking first at the age of library members, adults accounted for 51%, compared with 22% for children. Young adults accounted for 15%, while people aged 65 and over represented the smallest group, at 12%. Meanswhile, both children's fiction and adultion fiction accounted for 38% of total loans. The proportion of non-fiction adults was just over twice that of children's non-fiction, at 13% and 6% respectively. However, remaining categories of loans remained at 1-2%.
Turning to the number of loans, the figure stood at approximately 15,500 in 2007 before rising to around 21,000 in 2011. It then declines slightly to about 19,500 in 2013, before recovering steadily. By 2016, the number of loans had reached at it’s highest level, at just over 21,000.
