IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The charts display the information related to library members and the number of loans taken by it and the proportion of it.

Overall, the highest proportion was accounted by adults, whereas elderly made up the smallest ratio. Fiction books accoutend for the highest amount of loan.

The 18-64 aged people accounted for the largest proportions, with 51%, while the children made up 22%. Both 13-17 young adults and elderly people constituted for 15% and 12%, respectively. Children's and adult's fiction accounted for the largest proportion of loan, at 38%, while the children's DVD made up just 1% of loan. Young adults and adult audio books accounted for 2%, followed by non-fiction who made up 6%.

In 2007, over 15000 loans were taken by library, incresing the number to 21000 in 2011, before slightly falling to 19000 by 2009. In 2013, there was minor decline to nearly 20000, which was reaching at a peak point in 2016, at 22000.
