The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
The provided pie chart illustrates the age of Little Chalfont Library users in 2016 and the table displays proportion of the total books loaned by category in the same year, whereas the bar chart demonstrates the total number of loans from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, more than half of the library users were adults between age 18-64 and children's and adult fiction books accounted for a significant proportion of total books loaned in the given time period. Furthermore, the total number of book loans increased throughout the ten year period.
Adults of age group 18-64 made up 51% of the total users of Little Chalfont Library in 2016, followed by 22%, 15%, and 12% for children, young adults between the age of 13 and 17 and adults aged 65 and over, respectively. Children's fiction and adult fiction made up the highest share of books loaned at 38%, for 2016, whilst adult non fiction and children's non fiction were at 13% and 6% respectively. Moreover children's DVDs, young adults, and adult audio books had a total combined share of 5%.
In terms of total number of loans, the number reached to around 21,000 in 2011, whose total was 16,000 initially. The figure then declined reaching around 19,000 in 2013 and then stayed above the 20,000 mark to finish at about 22,000 in 2016.
