IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The charts compares the data regarding a public library in Little Chalfont town. The pie and table charts depict the age of library members and total number of loans taken in 2016 . Specifically, the bart chart illustrates the total number of loan taken from 2007 to 2016.

As per the pie chart, just above the half of members in the library were adults who aged between 18 to 64. Only 12% of members were adults aged 65 and above. On the other hand, both children's and adult fiction were the category took the largest part of total loans which was 38%. It was seen that merely 1% of total loans was taken by children's DVD's.

Nearly within a decade, slight flucutations were notable from the bar chart in total number of loans taken. Eventhough, in 2016 approximately 22,000 loans were taken in total which serves as the highest among all other years. In sharp contrast, just above 15,000 were taken in 2007.

To sum up, in the year 2016 the libraray took largest number of loans for children and adult fiction category of books. Moreover, adults aged between 18 to 64 served as the members of the library.
