IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The charts provide infromation about Little Chalfont Library, including the age of distribution of its members, the categories of materials borrowd in 2016, and total number of loans between 2007 to 2016.
Overall, adults aged 18-64 made up the largest proportion of library membership, while yound adults representated the smallest group. In terms of loans, fiction was the most popular category for both children and adults. The total number of loans increased considerably over the period, despite some fluctuations.
Looking first at age of library members in 2016, adults aged 18-64 accounted for 51% which was more than half of membership. Children were the second-largest group, at 22%, followed by young adults aged 13-17, at 15%. The remaining 12% were adults aged 65 and over.
The table consider children fiction and adult fiction were equally popular, with each accounted for 38% of all loans. Adult non-fiction was the next most borrowed category, at 13%, while children non-fiction representated 6%. Lowest category was children DVDs with 1% loan in 2016
