The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart and the bar graph represent the age group of the members of public library of Little Chalfont (in 2016) along with the total number of loans disbursed from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, the majority of the members were adults, and most of the loans were disbursed on children’s fiction books and adult’s fiction and most of the loans were passed in 2016.
The majority of the members of the library were adults (of age group 18-64)—51%, followed by the children who represented nearly a quarter of the total, and the remaining proportion was filled by the young adults (13-17) and adults who were aged 65 and above, both accounted for nearly 15%.
Most of the loans disbursed in 2016 were on the Children’s and Adult fiction books (38%). In contrast, children’s non-fictional loans were nearly half to adult non-fictional books (13%). Meanwhile, the adult audio books, books for young adults and children’s DVDs had nearly the same proportions (nearly 2%).
There was fluctuation in the total number of loans over the years, but initially, the library lent out roughly 15,000 books, and over three years the number increased gradually by 5,000 which remained consistent, and observed fluctuations a bit then it managed to maintain its number and finally in 2016, the figure roughly stood at 22,000 loans.
