IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The following pie chart and line graph illustrates the categories of loans given to different library members of different ages in 2016 and also the total number of loans from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, the pie chart tells us about the division between the members in little chalfont library and the graph shows us the ratio of loan given to different categories and in the end the line graph gives us information the number of loans given from 2007 to 2016.
The division of pie chart shows us that in the library members, 51% are adults, 15% are young adults, 22% are children and 12% are adults whose ages are 65 and over. The graph is telling us that in 2016, children`s fiction and adults ficton lend 38% loan while children`s non fiction`s loan was just 6% and for adults fiction, the loan was 13%.
The line graph demonstrates the total number of loans from 2007 to 2016. It shows us that in 2007, the number of loans was 16,000. And at the end of 2011, the number of loans was 21,000. In 2013, The number of loans was slightly decreased upto 19,000 but , in 2016, it again comes to 21,000.
