The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates data on age categories associated with members of the public library in a specific town, Little Chafont, in 2016. Following this, the table provides information on loans in different categories in 2016, while the bar chart indicates the amount of loans between 2007 and 2016.

Overall, it is clear that the most significant proportion of library membership was accounted for by the adult group, representing its popularity. Besides that, the popularity of contents which related to both children's and adult fiction is evident, whereas the total number of loans experienced an upward trend.

In 2016, the largest segment of library membership related to the 18-64 age range was just over half (51%) in the pie chart. In contrast, adult loans in categories related to

fiction, non-fiction, and audio books were 53% collectively. Children's membership accounted for 22% in the pie chart, in comparison to the 45% collectively, represented by contents of fiction, non-fiction, and DVDs in the table.

From 2007 to 2016, the total number of loans was just over 15,000 by 2007, according to the bar chart. Following this period, in both 2011 and 2014, the number was approximately 24,000. At the end of the period, the total number of loans reached roughly 25,000.
