Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, including member demographics, loan categories, and the trend in total loans over time. However, there are some inaccuracies and omissions in reporting the data. For instance, the text states that 'children fiction and non-fiction is around 44% in total', which is correct (38% + 6%), but misses the key comparison regarding adult fiction equalling children's fiction at 38%. Furthermore, the description of the bar chart trends is slightly imprecise (e.g., stating loans were 16,000 in 2007 when the chart shows around 15,700). The overview is present but a bit simplistic. It meets the requirements of reporting the main features, but more precise referencing would elevate the score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an overall coherent arrangement, opening with an introduction and overview, followed by body paragraphs addressing the different charts. However, paragraphing and referencing are sometimes faulty. For instance, sentences like 'On the one hand, the laon categories of different age groups are mentioned with percentage' use cohesive devices mechanically rather than logically to connect ideas, and there is no corresponding 'On the other hand'. Transitions between the demographic data, loan categories, and the bar graph feel abrupt. Paragraphs need to be structured more logically around distinct graphical elements to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but contains several errors in word choice, spelling, and phrasing, such as 'little chalfont' (capitalisation error), 'laon' (spelling error), and 'the rest is of adults which are the most in number'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary ('fluctuation', 'minor'), but overall expression is repetitive and relies on basic terms. While the meaning is generally communicated despite the lexical slips, the range remains somewhat limited and imprecise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'the adults between the age 18-64 are the major members and their loans are also highest as compared to other members...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing prepositions ('between the age 18-64'), comma splices, and run-on sentences (e.g., 'After that it increased in 2010 till 21000 and than the slight changes...'). Punctuation is also weak, with inconsistent spacing around punctuation marks. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at band 5.0.
