Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the visual data by discussing member age groups, loan categories, and the trend in total loans over the ten-year period. An overview is provided in the second paragraph, capturing the main features such as the dominance of middle-aged adults and the steady proportion of children. Key data points are selected and reported accurately, such as the 38% share for both children's and adult fiction, and the peak of around 22,000 loans. The response covers all components well and meets the criteria for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear overall progression. It begins with an introduction and overview, moves into the breakdown of loan categories in 2016, and finishes with the multi-year trend for total loans. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. Cohesive devices are employed with reasonable success, such as 'Overall', 'In 2016', and 'Subsequently'. However, referencing and transitions are occasionally slightly mechanical or awkward, as seen in 'loans taken by this library distinguished according to the type of boks', which prevents the score from reaching higher bands.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common items such as 'proportion', 'significantly', 'receding', and 'contributed'. However, there are several spelling errors and awkward word choices, such as 'illustartes', 'boks', 'top-most category', and 'least contributor'. Expressions like 'the amount of loan started peaking again' and 'contributed significantly on taking loan' show minor collocation inaccuracies. Despite these errors, communication is not impeded, placing the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms with varying success. There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures throughout the text, such as 'younger and older adults found to be the lowest', 'the total number of loan this library taken significantly rose', and 'the levels peaked over 22 thousand respectively'. Prepositional errors and missing auxiliary verbs are noticeable. Although these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from achieving a Band 6.5.
