Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by summarizing the membership ages, loan categories, and the overall loan trend across the decade. An effective overview is provided, capturing the main trends well. Key features such as the dominant adult age group and the popularity of fiction books are highlighted and supported with accurate data from the charts. However, there is a minor omission regarding the line graph data for total loans, as the text stops short of detailing the timeline beyond the introductory statement's mention, and the overall length is slightly below the 150-word minimum requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5

The response demonstrates a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Information is grouped sensibly into an introduction, an overview paragraph, and separate body paragraphs dedicated to membership and loan categories. Cohesive devices are used flexibly and appropriately, such as 'Regarding loans', 'In terms of membership', and 'while', ensuring that the relationships between ideas are clear and easy to follow without any mechanical or repetitive referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 7.0

The vocabulary used is sufficient for the task and allows for some flexibility and precision, employing appropriate terms such as 'proportion', 'distribution', 'comprising', and 'minor'. Less common lexical items are attempted with a good awareness of style, and there are no spelling or word-choice errors that impede communication. To reach a higher band, the student could incorporate more sophisticated collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to describe data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.5

A good variety of complex structures is employed, and the majority of sentences are error-free. The student demonstrates good control of grammar and punctuation, using subordinate clauses and prepositional phrases accurately (e.g., 'adults aged 18–64 accounted for 51% of all members'). Minor slips are virtually absent, and sentence forms are handled securely, allowing the writing to flow naturally and maintain high accuracy throughout.
