Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response attempts to address all parts of the visual data by mentioning the pie chart, table, and bar chart, but the coverage is somewhat mechanical and uneven. While you have successfully identified main features such as the dominant adult age group (51%) and the overall rising trend in loans up to 21,700 in 2016, some details are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, stating that 'children's has second number in that' lacks precision. To reach the next level, you need to select key features more discerningly and integrate the data types with clearer, more accurate comparisons rather than simply listing what each chart depicts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some overall organization with separate paragraphs for the introduction, pie chart/table details, and the bar chart. However, there is a lack of clear progression, and the transitions between sentences can feel abrupt. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurately used, such as 'On the other hand' being applied inappropriately to introduce the table when it is not presenting a contrasting argument. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making it harder for the reader to follow the flow of information smoothly. Improving logical links between sentences and utilizing paragraphing more purposefully will help elevate your coherence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate vocabulary range to convey basic information, using terms like 'proportion', 'category', and 'fluctuation'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'Library number is shown by pie chart', 'space occupied by the childrens', and 'record number of loan'. These errors sometimes impede communication or sound unnatural. To improve, you should focus on correct word forms, appropriate collocations, and precise terminology for data reporting, such as using 'percentage' or 'proportion' instead of 'space occupied'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The text contains a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses and basic conjunctions. When you attempt more complex structures, they are often faulty, featuring frequent grammatical errors in articles, pluralization, and subject-verb agreement—for example, 'the 22 percent of the space occupied by the childrens' and 'total number of loans between the year of 2007-2016'. Punctuation and tense control also need attention. Reducing the frequency of basic errors and incorporating a wider variety of accurate, complex grammatical forms will significantly strengthen your writing.
