Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting on member age distribution, loan categories, and the overall loan trend from 2007 to 2016. However, some aspects are only partially covered or lack precise data selection. For instance, the mention of loan categories captures the prominent 38% figures for children's and adult fiction, but the treatment of other categories is overly brief. Furthermore, the overview is somewhat limited, simply stating that the charts show different data rather than synthesizing the main overarching trends, which keeps the response at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement, dividing information into paragraphs that deal with different aspects of the visual data, such as member ages and loan trends. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical and disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are basic and repetitive, such as 'The graph one the other hand' and 'Than come'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal linking within paragraphs needs more careful organisation to ensure a smoother flow of ideas and clearer referencing throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic information about the charts, attempting less common terms such as 'ratio', 'peak', and 'fictional'. However, there are notable spelling errors and inaccurate word forms, such as 'diferent' instead of 'different', 'childern' instead of 'children', 'fictional' instead of 'fiction', 'non fictional' instead of 'non-fiction', and 'remaing' instead of 'remaining'. These lexical inaccuracies and occasional awkward collocations prevent the response from achieving a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the range is limited and frequent grammatical errors occur. There are issues with subject-verb agreement and missing auxiliary verbs, as seen in 'Loans according to category in 2016 is children and adult fictional is same' and 'The graph show loan ratio'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and articles are frequently omitted or misused, such as 'in 2007 the loan ratio is lowest'. These errors require some effort from the reader to decode, reflecting the characteristics of this level.
