Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting the main features across the three charts and making relevant comparisons. The overview captures the dominant age group and the most popular loan categories, alongside the overall upward trend in loans. However, some aspects are under-developed or lack full clarity. For instance, the data points for the year-on-year loan figures contain inaccuracies, such as misreporting the 2007 figure as 15,500 instead of 15,700, and claiming the figure peaked at nearly 21,000 in 2011 when the chart shows 21,200 in 2015. While the key features are selected and reported, the precision and depth of development align with the solid performance of a six and show partial elements of a seven through the breadth of data covered.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information logically. The writing is divided into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs dedicated to membership demographics, loan categories, and loan trends over time. Cohesive devices are employed, such as "Overall," "In term of library membership," and "Furthermore," though referencing and mechanical linking are occasionally faulty, as seen in awkward transitions like "While, children's fiction and adult fiction was the most popular loan category." Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct visual elements, satisfying the requirements of the lower band while showing organizational traits of the higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying basic meanings related to percentages and categories. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "proportion," "accounted for," and "considerably," but these are marred by frequent spelling, word-choice, and word-form errors. Examples include "appproxiemately," "slighthly," "remaing," "fuiction," and "cetegory." Furthermore, collocation and phrasing are sometimes unnatural, such as "the people of aged group" or "contribute by the adults." These frequent slips and spelling errors occasionally impede smooth reading, keeping the lexical score constrained to a foundational level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and introductory phrases. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent, with frequent errors in articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation spacing. Examples include "The graphs illustrates" (plural/verb agreement), "in Little Chalfont town" (preposition choice), "adult aged 18-64" (plural form), and improper comma placement throughout the text such as ",the people" and ",While, children's". These frequent grammatical errors cause occasional difficulty and distraction for the reader, placing the performance firmly in the bracket characterized by persistent structural inaccuracies.
