Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart provide information about thr members of Little Chalfont Library during 2016, while the accompanying tabular chart and bar graph depicts total loans took by different categories over the same period and aggregate number of loan taken between 2007 and 2016.
At first glance, it is abundantly clear that there were highest number of adults aged for 18-64 as library members as compared to other categories and that was 51%. In 2016, the children as a member of library were noticed for 22%. However, negligible amount of difference shown between the adults who aged 65 and above and young adults between 13 and 17 which was 12% and 15% respectively in 2016. Turning to the table, it can be seen that in 2016, figures for total number of loans took by children's fiction and adult fiction were exactly the same. Total number of loans took for Children;s DVDs and Adult audio books were almost the same. Loans taken for adult non fiction accounts for 13% in 2016.
Moving further, the number of loan took in 2007, was around 16000 which gradually increased and reched approximately 21000 in 2011, whereas the figures for loans taken fluctuated during 2012, 2013 and 2014. After 2014, it again started increasing and reached around 22000 in final year.
Overall, children accounted for the hughest proportion in terms of member of the library, whereas loans taken by children's fiction and adult fiction were idenctical and total number of loans taken were lowest in initial years and fluctuated before rising again in 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by summarising the three visual sources concerning the Little Chalfont Library, presenting relevant data such as the highest proportion of adult members aged 18-64 and overall loan trends. However, some aspects of the task are covered more fully than others, reflecting a partial development of ideas. For instance, while the main features of the pie chart and the line graph are highlighted, the details from the table are somewhat selectively reported without fully weaving them into broader comparisons. Additionally, there are minor inaccuracies in reporting data, such as stating that the final year reached around 22,000 when the gridline sits closer to 21,700. Ideas remain relevant, yet certain trends are under-developed, preventing the response from achieving a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the pie chart to the table and finally to the line graph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate each visual component and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'Turning to the table' and 'Moving further'. However, cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly faulty, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'and that was 51%'. The response fully satisfies the requirements of Band 6 and shows glimpses of the flexibility required for higher bands through its clear overall structure, though referencing and cohesive flow require more precision.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
An adequate range of vocabulary is attempted for the task, with appropriate use of descriptive terms such as 'proportion', 'gradually increased', and 'fluctuated'. Less common vocabulary items are attempted, but they are occasionally marred by word-choice and spelling errors, such as 'tabular chart', 'reched', 'hughest', and 'idenctical'. Furthermore, awkward phrasings like 'total loans took' instead of 'taken' appear throughout the text. These errors do not impede communication, allowing the reader to easily grasp the intended meaning, which aligns with the characteristics of a satisfactory performance for this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use relative clauses and comparison structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that surface throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie chart provide'), article omissions ('for adult non fiction'), and incorrect verb forms ('loans took' instead of 'loans taken'). While these errors do not completely obscure the message, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar score from advancing into higher bands.
