Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially by attempting to report data from all three visual components regarding Little Chalfont Library. However, the interpretation of the data contains inaccuracies; for instance, the numbers stated for the age groups misread the pie chart proportions or absolute totals, such as claiming there are a total of 100 people. While you attempted to select main features and make some comparisons, such as noting that children and adults account for the vast majority of loans, some details remain under-developed or imprecise. To reach a higher level, ensure that all figures and percentages are accurately transcribed from the charts without misinterpreting sample sizes, and provide a clearer, more coherent overview of the main trends across the charts without introducing inaccurate arithmetic.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response shows some organization, but lacks a clear overall progression. The writing is split into several short, somewhat disjointed sentences and lacks proper paragraphing, making the flow feel mechanical and abrupt. Cohesive devices are either missing or applied inadequately; phrases like 'If we take a look at' or 'It comes out to be' are used repetitively and do not link ideas smoothly. Pronoun referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as starting sentences with dangling modifiers or fragmented fragments like '.which shows that'. To improve, you need to group related information into distinct, well-structured paragraphs—such as separating the demographic breakdown from the loan categories and the yearly trend—and use a wider variety of transitional markers to connect your ideas logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your lexical range is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic information about the charts. You attempt some task-specific vocabulary such as 'fiction', 'non-fiction', and 'loans', but your range of vocabulary is narrow and repetitive. There are noticeable errors in word form, spelling, and word choice that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'adullts', 'childrens', and 'fior'. To achieve a higher score, you should incorporate a wider variety of precise reporting verbs and synonyms, such as 'constitute', 'account for', 'fluctuate', or 'experience an upward trend', while carefully proofreading your work to eliminate basic spelling and morphological mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic clause patterns. When you attempt more complex structures, they are frequently faulty, leading to sentence fragments such as 'The public library situated in a town called Little Chalfont.' and '.which shows that the interest in the library is increasing yearly.' There are frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and articles—such as missing punctuation before coordinating clauses and incorrect tense consistency. To improve, focus on constructing complete sentences with proper finite verbs, minimize run-on fragments, and ensure you use a healthy mix of error-free simple and complex sentence forms.
