The below pie chart, table and bar chart represent the age, loans by category and number of loans per year of the library members respectively for Little Chalfont Library.
Overall, the highest number of members are from the adults, age group between 18-64, which is 51%, while only 12% can be found for age between 65 and over. The two highest loans by category can be found and they are Children's fictions and adults fiction which is 38%. In the case loans, 2016 is the highest scorer above with 20,000.
The library seems quite popular amoung the adults, specially between 18-64 age in 2016, however, there can be found less number in the age group over 65 and over. The second highest number of people can be notice in the children and it is almost 22%. By looking at the loans by catogory, two highest category can be discovered and they are the Children's fiction category and Adult Fiction, with each of 38% , whereas, the Children's DVDs are the lowest with only 1% in 2016. Other loans categories were not so prominent within the range of 13 to 2 %. Moving to the total number of loans over the years, almost 10 years, we can see that highest number of loans was in the 2016 and it was above 20,000 and it is also very close to year 2010, 2015 and 2015. the lowest loan can be found in 2007 and it is above 15,000. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the main features of the provided charts, covering the age distribution, loans by category, and the 10-year loan trend. However, some parts of the task are only partially developed. For instance, the discussion of the bar chart trends is slightly inaccurate, as the student describes the library as facing "constant ups and downs" when the overall trend shows general growth from 2007 to 2016 with minor fluctuations. While an overview is attempted at the beginning of the second paragraph, some details lack precision and are repetitive. To reach the next level, the data selection should be more accurate and the trends described with greater analytical clarity.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic logical arrangement in the response, moving from an introductory statement to body paragraphs discussing the specific charts. However, the overall progression is sometimes hindered by mechanical and repetitive transitions such as "can be found", "can be noticed", and "can be discovered". Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of ideas lacks seamless connection. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and cohesive devices are overused in a formulaic manner. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would significantly enhance the overall readability and organizational structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic information about percentages and numbers. However, the range is limited, and there are several noticeable lexical errors, such as spelling mistakes ("amoung", "catogory") and awkward word choices or phrasing like "highest scorer above" and "Other loans categories were not so prominent". Less common vocabulary is attempted with occasional inaccuracy, which sometimes affects precision. To improve, the student needs to expand their range of descriptive terminology, ensure accurate word forms, and eliminate spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently marred by grammatical errors. There are issues with subject-verb agreement and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as "members are from the adults, age group between 18-64" and "the highest number of loans was in the 2016". Punctuation errors, such as comma splices and missing commas in lists (e.g., "Adult Fiction, with each of 38% , whereas"), also occur. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited level of grammatical control.
