Student answer (Band 6.5)
The pie chart and the table illustrates the age and the total loans occupied by different categories of library material in the Little Chalfont library, and the bar graph compares the total number of loans taken from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, half of the members of library were adults and the remaining were children, young adults, and elderly people. Moreover, children and adult fiction stood first in terms of loan, while DVDs of both contributed the least. Furthermore, the amount of total loan taken changed gradually with lowest in 2007 and peaking in 2016.
Firslty, it can be seen that almost half of the library users were adults between 18-64 years od age, approximately 51%. In contrast, half of this percentage were children cosisting 22% of total usage. Whereas, young adults and older people remained almost similar with 12% and 15% of their contribution.
Secondly, most of the loans were taken by children's and adults fiction, almost 38%, while the DVDs and adult audio books stood least in terms of loan categories, accounting 1% and 2% respectively. Conversely, adults and children's non-fiction loan taken remained in between 13 and 6%.
In addition to this, almost 16000 of total loan was taken in 2007, which dramatically increased to 18000 in 2008 and 2009. Whereas, the amount of loan continue to rise rapidly till 2016 reaching almost 22000 while showing a little fluctuation in 2013, lowering to 19000, and then again increasing substantially.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the prompt successfully by addressing the pie chart, the table, and the bar graph. You successfully highlighted key features, such as the dominance of adult members and adult/children's fiction loans, while also capturing the upward trend in overall loans from 2007 to 2016. Your overview correctly summarises the main trends without getting bogged down in excessive data points. However, some minor inaccuracies in data reporting occur, such as stating that children accounted for 22% of total usage when the chart actually indicates that 22% refers to the number of children registered as members. Despite this slight confusion between membership numbers and loan usage, the overall response is well-supported and presents a clear picture of the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. You effectively divided the information into logical paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, followed by an overview, and then dedicating specific paragraphs to the age distribution, loan categories, and the timeline graph. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', 'In contrast', and 'Conversely' are used with reasonable flexibility to guide the reader through the comparisons. While referencing is generally clear, occasional mechanical linking words or slight disjointedness in paragraph transitions prevent the essay from reaching the next level of seamless flow. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the main trends with terms such as 'dramatically increased', 'peaking', and 'fluctuation'. You make noticeable attempts to use less common items like 'dominance' and 'accounting for', but there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'loan taken' instead of 'number of loans' or 'loan volume'. Additionally, there are a few spelling and word-form slips, most notably the typo 'Firslty' instead of 'Firstly' and 'od age' instead of 'of age'. These minor errors do not impede communication, but refining your lexical precision will help elevate your vocabulary control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a workable mix of simple and complex sentence structures, using clauses introduced by 'while', 'as', and relative pronouns quite effectively. Grammatical control is generally decent, with many clear sentences, but there are some recurring errors in grammar and punctuation. For instance, subject-verb agreement slips occur in phrases like 'the pie chart and the table illustrates' (should be 'illustrate') and 'children cosisting 22%' (should be 'consisting of'). Preposition and article errors also appear, such as 'members of library' instead of 'members of the library' and 'in terms of loan' instead of 'in terms of loans'. These errors persist but rarely impede communication.
