Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response makes an attempt to present an overview of the charts, noting the highest and lowest age groups of library members. However, the information presented is only partially accurate and suffers from confusion between percentages and member counts, as well as misinterpretations of the visual data. For example, the student writes that 'the age of highest library member was the adults which covered more area' and attempts to describe the loan trends, mentioning that 'the highest loans has taken the amount of 22,000 majority of children's fiction at 38%'. Key features such as the overall trend in total loans over the 2007-2016 period are under-developed or inaccurately linked to specific categories and years. While the prompt instructions are addressed, the lack of clarity in reporting data prevents a more thorough and precise representation of the visual information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response shows some organisation through basic transition signals such as 'Overall', 'At the initial stages', and 'On the other hand', but there is a lack of clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, though the body paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or mechanically applied, such as the repetitive use of 'the library member' or awkward phrasing like 'Despite, in 2016'. Referencing is not always clear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical development of ideas. While sentences are grouped into paragraphs, the internal cohesion and logical flow between sentences require significant improvement to achieve a clearer structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'initial stages' and 'proportion', but encounters noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation. For instance, phrases like 'higher member of the adults', 'ustilise approximately 51% ratio', and 'amount of prize' cause confusion and strain the reader. Spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'reuppes' or 'Furthremore', are present throughout the text and occasionally impede communication. To reach a higher level, the student needs to expand their lexical repertoire and use vocabulary with greater precision and stylistic awareness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical range is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences and attempts at complex structures that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, and articles, such as 'the age of highest library member was the adults', 'While the the lowest library member was senior citizens', and 'the highest loans has taken the amount of 22,000'. Punctuation is also problematic, with misplaced commas and fragments such as 'such as in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.' These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a lack of consistent control over complex grammatical forms.
