Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at only 65 words. Because the text cuts off midway through the second sentence of the overview, the response only partially addresses the task and fails to present any body paragraphs reporting the main features, trends, or comparisons from the visual data. To reach a higher band, the writer must complete a full response that covers all three charts and provides a comprehensive overview alongside detailed data points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The opening paragraph demonstrates an attempt at logical organization by introducing the three visual components of the prompt clearly. However, because the text terminates prematurely during the overview, overall progression and paragraphing cannot be properly established. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the lack of a body means the structure remains incomplete. To improve cohesion, the writer needs to develop multiple well-structured paragraphs linked by appropriate cohesive devices such as 'in addition', 'conversely', or 'overall'.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used in the introduction is generally adequate and relevant to the task, with acceptable attempts at describing data presentation phrasing such as 'illustrates different types of information', 'provides data on', and 'represents total number of loans'. However, there are capitalization errors such as 'little chalfont' instead of 'Little Chalfont'. The limited quantity of text restricts the range of vocabulary demonstrated. To achieve a higher band, the writer must use a wider and more precise range of lexical items with accurate spelling and capitalization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The initial sentences show a satisfactory mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating correct use of relative clauses and introductory prepositional phrases over the period of 9 years from 2007 to 2016. Grammar and punctuation within the written portion are mostly accurate, though limited in scope due to the short length. To improve, the writer needs to produce a much larger body of text containing a wider variety of complex grammatical structures while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
