The figures give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont. Overall, adults make up the biggest share of members in 2016, while children's and adult fiction contribute to the highest proportion of loans. It is important to note that the total number of loans were gradual increasing between the year 2007 to 2016.

In 2016, people among the age 18 to 64 accounted for 51% of total members, making it the largest share, followed by children, young adults and adults over 65 with 22%, 15%, 12% respectively. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task, successfully providing an overview of the charts and reporting the main features with relevant comparisons. The introduction touches upon the membership breakdown and loan proportions, while the body paragraphs detail the percentages for age groups and categories, as well as the overall trend in loans from 2007 to 2016. However, certain parts are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion of loan categories lists several minor items without fully integrating them into meaningful comparisons, reflecting a tendency to list data rather than synthesize it. To reach a higher band, the writer would need to provide a more fully developed selection of features with deeper comparative analysis rather than relying on a cataloguing approach.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the overview statement placed near the beginning. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate the different charts and data sets. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or faulty. For example, the transition "Likewise, children's and adults fiction dominated..." creates an awkward link between demographic data and loan categories. Additionally, referencing could be smoother, as some sentences rely heavily on direct listing with repetitive connectors like "followed by" and "with". To achieve a higher level of cohesion, the writer should employ a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that paragraph transitions establish clearer logical relationships between the provided visual data sets.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the main features of the charts. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as "proportion", "dominated", and "minimal shares", showing an effort to vary language. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and word-form errors, such as "adults fiction" instead of "adult fiction", "Adults non-fiction repesents" containing both a plural noun modifier and a spelling error, and "children's non fiction". Furthermore, phrasing like "people among the age 18 to 64" is unnatural. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the response from achieving a higher lexical band. To improve, the writer should focus on correct collocation, word forms, and precision in terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over basic structures and attempting some complex subordinate clauses. There are, however, several grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues in "the total number of loans were gradual increasing" (where an adverb is used instead of an adjective and the verb is plural), missing articles in phrases like "to 20000 in 2016", and a missing space or punctuation mark as seen in "loans. It is important". Despite these errors, meaning is rarely impeded and communication remains clear. To reach the next band, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and ensure greater accuracy in tense usage, adjectives versus adverbs, and article placement.
