Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You report several relevant details from the member-age chart and the 2016 loan table, including the largest age group (adults aged 18–64 at 51%), the two leading loan categories (both 38%), and the smallest category (children’s DVDs at 1%). However, the response only partially summarises the charts: it gives no clear overview of the main patterns, and the line chart’s overall movement is not accurately described. In particular, 2016, not 2012, has the highest total, at about 21,700, while 2007 is the lowest at about 15,700. The opening also misidentifies the axes: years are on the horizontal axis and loan totals on the vertical axis. Select the key trends and compare them accurately to develop a fuller summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response includes information from the different visuals, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the ideas are crowded into one paragraph and do not follow a clear overall progression. The discussion moves from the line chart to the age chart and then the table without a concise overview or clear separation of the visuals. Some linking is mechanical, and “Moving forward” does not express a meaningful relationship between the figures that follow. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs, grouping related comparisons together. This would make the sequence easier to follow and clarify how each figure supports the summary.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “total number of loans,” “age of library members,” “percentage,” and “lowest,” so the reader can identify the subjects being described. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce clarity, such as “frome,” “higest,” “approxmately,” “memebers,” and “lone.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “the expanse from 0 to 25,000” is not a natural way to describe the vertical scale, and “the higest loan” should refer to the highest number of loans. Use accurate chart language such as “loan total,” “accounted for,” and “rose to,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish totals, proportions, and categories.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response mainly uses short, simple statements and attempts a few longer structures, for example, “Firstly from the pie chart childrens are 22, adults are 51…” These attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and punctuation make parts difficult to read. Examples include “The x-axis represents the expanse … while y-axis shows years,” where the clauses need clearer punctuation and articles, and “these charts gives,” where the subject and verb do not agree. The sentence about the highest loan also has an unclear structure: “The higest loan … in 2012 and 2016 approximately 21,000.” Practise forming complete comparison sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and use commas and full stops to separate ideas.
