Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three visuals and identify several important features: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group at 51%, fiction accounts for 38% of loans in both the children’s and adult categories, and loans rise overall from 2007 to 2016. These points show a relevant overview. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the figures 12 and 15 are described as “almost at same number,” though they refer to adults aged 65 and over and young adults respectively, and the claim that loans fluctuated “under 15,000 to 21,000” does not match the chart, where annual totals are generally around 19,000–22,000 after 2007. Develop the trend more precisely and distinguish membership from time spent reading.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from the membership chart to the loan categories and then the annual trend, with an overall statement at the end. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help signal these shifts. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because comparisons and explanations are compressed together. For example, the sentence about the age groups combines the 12 and 15 figures without clearly identifying which group each belongs to, while “In 2016 demand of loans were increased” does not connect smoothly to the preceding trend description. Use clearer topic sentences and link each figure directly to its category; reserve “overall” for a concise summary of the main patterns.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “total loans,” “category,” “fluctuated,” and “increased,” and the reader can generally identify the subjects being compared. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “illusrates,” “pople,” “friction” for fiction, and “favouriest story book.” Some collocations are also unsuitable, such as “gave significant time in reading” and “took a loans.” Aim for accurate chart language and common academic collocations, such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “the number of loans rose.” Proofreading spelling would also improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a time clause beginning “When we look at…”. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For instance, “adults spends” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, “which was rose” uses an incorrect verb form, and “In 2016 demand of loans were incresed” has problems with both the article and verb construction. The opening sentence is also difficult to parse because its clauses are not joined clearly. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement, and build complex sentences around one clear comparison at a time.
