Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the subject and include a broad overview, noting that adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group and that loans generally rose over the period. However, the response only minimally covers the charts: it omits the loan-category breakdown entirely and gives little accurate detail about the trend. The statement that loans “gradually increase and then decreased” is unclear and does not capture the overall rise from about 15,700 to 21,700, with fluctuations. You also describe the 65-and-over group as the “lowest user,” although young adults are the smallest membership group. The response is 143 words, below the required 150; the nine words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count. To improve, report the key figures and comparisons from all three visuals and make the overview precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with an opening, an overview beginning “Overall,” and later comments about membership and borrowing. However, the ideas are not arranged coherently: the response moves between membership figures and loan trends without clearly separating the three visuals, and the final two paragraphs repeat the general point that borrowing rose and fell. Connections such as “Also,” “In terms of,” and “Regarding” do not clarify how the information relates, while “This process” has no clear reference. A clearer structure would use one paragraph for the overview, then separate paragraphs for membership, loan categories, and the time-series graph, with comparisons placed alongside the relevant figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is basic but sufficient to identify the topic and make some comparisons, using terms such as “total number of loans,” “highest,” “lowest,” and “increase.” However, repetition and inaccurate word choices make parts difficult to interpret. “The lowest user” is not a natural way to describe a membership group, and “the number of books were low” does not accurately express the chart’s loan totals. There are also spelling errors, including “Liitle,” “libray,” and “begining.” Use precise chart language and vary repeated words: for example, describe membership proportions as “accounted for” a share and loan totals as “rose,” “fell,” or “fluctuated.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentence forms, including a comparison with “whereas” and a sentence beginning “In terms of book borrowing,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur in phrases such as “the highest number of people using library is adults” and “is gradually increase.” The sentence “It has remained constant almost throughout the year” also has an unclear subject and does not fit the period being described. Articles and sentence boundaries need attention, as in “using library” and the comma before “whereas.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and faulty complex attempts can obscure meaning. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with a clear subject and verb, such as “Loans rose, then fluctuated.”
