Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the three visuals and identify several important features: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group, and children’s and adult fiction each account for 38% of loans. You also note that loans were higher at the end than at the beginning. These points are relevant and broadly accurate. However, some details are unclear or incomplete: the overview says loans increased, although the line fluctuates after 2010, and the trend is not described precisely. The membership figures are also reported inconsistently: the chart gives 22 for children and 15 for young adults, but the response adds a percent sign only to the children’s figure. Develop the loan trend with key turning points and clarify the units for the membership data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to membership and loan information. Paragraphing helps distinguish the visuals, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Furthermore,” and “In contrast” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The overview combines several ideas without clearly prioritising them, and the final paragraph moves from the 2007–2009 figures to a general statement about later years without identifying the fluctuations. Some connectors are repetitive or do not express the relationship accurately, particularly “In contrast” at the start of the final paragraph. Organise the report around a clear overview, then group related comparisons and use more precise links between them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “accounted,” “categories,” “recorded,” and “increased,” so the reader can recognise the main subject of each section. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “had more accounted in library,” “different types of loan,” and “the mainly two categories.” Spelling errors, including “childern,” “younge,” “indviiduals,” and “numbrer,” also reduce accuracy. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. Build a bank of standard chart language, such as “made up,” “the largest proportion,” and “the number of loans rose,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “as compared with,” and the main message is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully. For example, “the adults people had more accounted in library” has problems with sentence structure and verb form, while “adults those age are 18 to 64 has accounted largest members” contains errors in clause formation and agreement. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “the different age groups member” and the comma spacing in “childern,Young adults.” Use shorter, complete sentences when describing figures, then practise combining them with accurate relative clauses and contrast clauses.
