Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant headline features: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group, fiction for children and adults each accounts for 38% of loans, and the loan total is around 21,000. However, the response addresses the charts only partially. It stops while describing the table, does not report the loan trend from 2007 to 2016, and gives no complete account of the remaining category shares. The statement that the biggest loan total was “around 21,000” is also imprecise: the total rises to approximately 21,700 in 2016. The response contains 117 words, below the required 150, which limits the detail and coverage possible. Complete the overview and select key figures and changes from all three visuals.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening overview and a paragraph beginning “To commence with,” and the reader can identify which charts are being discussed. However, the progression is incomplete: the response ends mid-sentence at “the lowest percentage,” and the line graph is not integrated into the account. Some linking is awkward or repetitive, particularly “Moreover” followed by “As well as,” and “In which” does not connect grammatically to the preceding sentence. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the overview and the main details, and group related comparisons together. Clear transitions such as “Turning to the loan figures” would help guide the reader through all three visuals.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “category,” “majority,” and “minority,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “information of,” “age members,” and “number of loan.” Spelling errors including “arond,” “majory,” “aduts,” and “Morevore” are noticeable and reduce clarity. There is also repetition of “highest” and “proportion.” Build a more precise range for describing charts, including terms such as “accounted for,” “share,” “membership group,” and “loan total,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few different sentence forms, including an overview and a sentence introduced by “while,” but control is inconsistent. Errors include “the pie chart provide” and “the table shows total loan,” where subject–verb agreement and article or plural forms are needed. The fragment “In which the majority…” is not a complete sentence, and “while . the minority…” contains faulty punctuation and sentence construction. The final clause is also unfinished. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, while attempts to add clauses often create errors that make the text harder to follow. Practise writing complete sentences with accurate agreement, articles, and punctuation, then check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
